初の自伝にも似た、私たちの私たちによる世界に問いかける作品。あなたならどうするだろう？
絶望と希望の狭間で刹那に生きるために新たな
王国を作り出し一筋の光を作りながら生きる双子の、もしかしたら同一人物の物語を作り出す。
それはどの土地にも当てはまる、生き抜くための小さな王国の物語。

A work that resembles our first autobiography—a question posed to the world by us, for us.
What would you do?
A tale of twins—perhaps the same person—who create a new kingdom in order to live in the moment, suspended between despair and hope, forging a ray of light as they survive.
It is a story of a small kingdom for survival, one that could belong to any land.

私は50年以上写真家として活動してきており、写真におけるチャンスを見つけ、評価するための訓練と経験は積んできたはずです。9年前、私のプロジェクト「RAFU」で富美恵さんと桂子さんをそれぞれ、そして一緒に撮影させていただくという大変光栄な機会に恵まれました。しかし、今回東京でのLABO 4月公演で改めてお二人を拝見して、私は過去にお二人に対して重大な過ちを犯していたことに気づきました。
1時間近く、私は魅了され、圧倒されながら、次々と目の前を通り過ぎる無数の写真のチャンスをただ見つめていました。ダンサーの動きは時に流れるように、時にスタッカートのように切れ味鋭く、実に見事で、彼女たちの静止したポーズはまるで大理石の彫像のようでした。そこには確かに霊感に満ちた何かがあり、恵さんによる琴の幽玄でインスピレーションに満ちた音楽が、彼女たちを魅了し、あるいは催眠にかけていたかのように感じられました。
私の心と目は常に刺激を受け、美しく優雅な静物画のような構成が、抽象的でミニマルな舞台空間の中で人間の形と交差しながら、目の前を流れていきました。その絶え間ない、そして予測できない変化を記憶にとどめることができず、私はもどかしさを感じていました。「止まって！お願いだから写真を撮らせて！記録させて！この一瞬の表現を保存させて！」と叫びたくなりましたが、三人はすでに次の展開へ、次の物語のページへと進んでいました。
その物語の内容は、少なくとも私にとっては重要ではありませんでした。重要だったのは「今ここ」であり、人間の身体と精神の祝祭であり、言葉を超えて力強く響く謎めいた宇宙からのメッセージだったのです。それは、あらゆる説明を超越するものでした。
30周年記念公演が間近に迫っていると伺っています。ぜひ観に行きたいです。ありがとう、そして頑張ってください！

As a practicing photographer for over fifty years, I should at this point be trained and prepared to see and appreciate photographic opportunities. I had the great honor and pleasure to photograph both Fumie and Keiko, separately and together for my project titled RAFU, nine years ago. Having now observed them afresh in their recent LABO April performance in Tokyo, I feel that I have done both dancers a grave disservice.
For almost an hour, I sat spellbound, observing and appreciating endless photographic opportunities pass by. The dancers movements, at times fluid, at others staccato, were stunning, their frozen poses evoked marble statuary. They were surely inspired, even hypnotized by the accompanying Megumi's haunting and inspirational koto music.
My mind and eyes were constantly challenged and provoked as a series of beautiful and elegant still-life compositions, juxtapositions of human form with minimal abstract stage environments, floated in front of me. I found it frustrating to be unable to hold in my memory the constant and unpredictable transitions. I kept wanting to shout out, STOP - please let me photograph, let me document, let me preserve this fleeting manifestation, but the trio were already onto the next phase, the next page of a narrative that I found delightfully incomprehensible.
The story was not important, at least to me, it was the here and now, the celebration and exploration of the human form and spirit, the wordless and powerful communication echoing a mysterious universe which transcends any explanation. The 30th anniversary performance is imminent. I want to be there. Thank you and gambatte!

そこから30年——。
ぶつかっては壊れ、また構築して。
幾度となく変容を繰り返しながら、私たちはここまで歩んできました。
気づけば、珍しい“女性二人のDuo”として唯一無二の存在となっていました。
そして今、この節目の年に、私たちの原点であるこの場所——
前衛の聖地である草月ホールにて、素晴らしいアーティスト仲間と新作のお披露目とともに、皆様と祝祭のひとときを分かち合えることを心より嬉しく思います。
どうぞ、私たち86B210の「今」に立ち会ってください。
